Fundraising 2008
Child Africa's proudest achievement in 2007 was to open the "Child Africa International School" in Kabale, Uganda.
The school is the first in Africa to incorporate both deaf and unimpaired children into the school system.
A principal goal is to teach sign language to all children enrolled and hence break the communication barrier between the two worlds. This commitment has been received with much praise by the government heads of Uganda and by UNAD (Uganda National Association for the Deaf).
Developing competent English skills and computer literacy are primary objectives for the 110 children currently enrolled and who are aged from 3 to 16 years old. We are back from our trip to Uganda teaching at the Child Africa International School. Click here for a report and photos describing the experience in Kabale.
