 charity carrying water

Charity carrying water home for the family in Kabale and her niece carrying her share.

Charity studies at the Child Africa International School and will be one of the many children using the library books.

We have gathered a very comprehensive range that include Biology, Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Metalwork, Economics, French, Religious Education, English as a Second Language, Social Studies, Encyclopedias, Art, Home Economics, nursery books, fairy tales and an extensive list of fiction titles.

The OHP's and televisions are primarily for the deaf children as they are much needed visual teaching aids. The computers will be used for teaching basic computer skills to all levels.

The children's families will be receiving our clothes collection.

Shipment to Uganda: fundraising intitiative

Our Book, Computer and Clothes Drive started in May 2008 and over the past months we have collected over 1500 educational books, a huge selection of good quality clothes for men, women and children (trousers, shorts, dress shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, overcoats, skirts, dresses, evening gowns, shoes, socks, babywear etc), computers, televisions, printers and overhead projectors. We have now filled the space available for shipment. Cambridge to Africa would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the following contributers from Cambridge and surrounding areas:

  • Manor Community College - Cambridge
  • Bourn Primary School - Bourn
  • Princess Helena College - Hitchin
  • Cambridge Assessment colleagues - Cambridge
  • ASDA - Cambridge for their endless supply of boxes
  • Contributors from our flyer drop - Cambridge
We have packed up all the donated items - quite a job! Many thanks to our volunteer Paul Runesha who played a major role in this process.

The boxes will be shipped to Uganda and distributed to the
Child Africa International School in Kabale

The school is the first in Africa to incorporate both deaf and  unimpaired children into the school system and we are very proud to be involved in this groundbreaking pedagogical move! For information about our time working at the school in May/June 2008 click here here

Cambridge to Africa is now fundraising towards the cost of the shipment and are asking for donations via our secure PayPal facility.

Even £10.00 can help us towards achieving our target figure. If you would like to donate please log on from our main fundraising page and follow the instructions. We value your contribution and can guarantee it is being used to help children and parents in Kabale, Uganda!

Best wishes,
